This page is dedicated to 37 people whose names appear in our list with a source and with the city of Baneh in the province of Kurdistan. The list for Baneh differs from most cities in this list: no name of an executed person appears in it, and most of the names, 31 people, belong to those who were killed by government forces outside of protests. 4 people were killed in protests, 1 person lost their life at the hands of government forces in other circumstances and 1 person died in detention. The earliest date on this page is 10 Tir 1396 and the latest 20 Esfand 1404.
Years and days
From the year 1396 there are two names on this page. Then, after several years without names in our data, the names appear in four consecutive years: 9 names from 1401, 11 names from 1402, 8 names from 1403 and 7 names from 1404. So in this list Baneh has no heavy year and no light year; the deaths came year after year, one by one.
The same pattern can be seen in the days. The only day in Baneh with more than one name is 5 Aban 1401 with 2 names. The other days, including 10 Tir and 22 Aban 1396 and 6 and 20 Shahrivar 1401, each have only one name. In Baneh most names came on separate days and alone.
The youngest person on this page was 17 years old and the oldest 40, and the median of the ages is 28 years. All those whose age has been recorded were under forty-one. 1 person was under 18 years of age. The sources have not clearly written of any of these 37 people that they were a woman.
Four names
Our sources have said more than name and date about only four of the people of Baneh, and even that is only a few words. Vahed Ghaderi, 19 years old, whom the source introduces as a kolbar (cross-border porter), was killed by government forces outside of protests on 10 Tir 1396. His name is the first name on this page.
Nejad Mohammadi, whom the source introduces as a shopkeeper, married and the father of one child, was killed on 22 Aban 1396. His age has not been recorded in our data. Shwaneh Ahmadpour, 34 years old, father of one child, was killed on 2 Ordibehesht 1403, and Jalal Sohrabi, 40 years old, father of 2 children, eleven days later, on 13 Ordibehesht 1403. Both are counted among those who lost their lives at the hands of government forces outside of protests.
About the other names from Baneh, our sources have said nothing apart from name, date, fate and sometimes age. We do not know what work they did, where and how they were killed, or whom they left behind.
About the sources and the incompleteness of this list
These 37 names are not all of those from Baneh who were killed. The real number of victims from Baneh is higher, and we record only a name for which we have a source. Most of the names on this page come from one source: the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 61 cases. After it come the Iran Human Rights Society and the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (English-language) with 6 cases each and Persian Wikipedia with 3 cases. Hengaw and iranhrs.org have each reported 2 cases, and English Wikipedia, Sky News and the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center one case each.
Every name has at least one source, but some records rest on only one report and may contain errors in age, date or the spelling of the name. A description of life is available for only 3 people. If you knew one of these 37 people in Baneh, if you were a neighbour, colleague or relative of one of them, send us your memory or correction so that at least a few lines of their lives remain on this page.
