This page keeps the memory of 20 people whose names are linked with Lordegan, in the province of Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari. 19 of them were killed in protests and the death sentence of one person has been upheld. All the dates recorded on this page fall within one week: from 11 Dey 1404 to 18 Dey 1404. The list for Lordegan is the list of the first days of Dey 1404.
A week in Dey
On 11 Dey 1404, 3 people of Lordegan were killed. Six days later, on 17 Dey 1404, 9 more gave their lives; the day with the most names on this page. On 18 Dey 1404, too, one person was killed. For 19 people the year 1404 is recorded in the sources, but for many of them the exact day does not appear. That is, most of those killed in Lordegan gave their lives before 18 Dey.
Those whose age we know were between 21 and 42 years old, and the median age is 28 years. No adolescent under 18 is recorded on this list, and the sources have not written of any of these 20 people that they were a woman.
Sajjad Valamanesh
Sajjad Valamanesh is recorded in our list as 28 years old, although one of the reports calls him younger. The source writes that he was killed in the demonstration in Lordegan by the gunfire of security forces. According to the same source, he was not a member of the Basij and was a supporter of the monarchy. In the days after his death, security bodies, including the IRGC Intelligence Organisation, contacted his family repeatedly.
The source describes how his father was put under pressure to call for action against the protesters in an interview broadcast by state media; and according to the same source, he did so only in order to get his son's body back for burial. A father who, to bury his child, was forced to say in front of the camera words that were not his own.
Ali Rahimi Rigi
Ali Rahimi Rigi, 32 years old, is the only person on this page who is still alive and whose death sentence has been upheld. The source writes about his family: “His father was one of the commanders and wounded veterans of the eight-year war, and his maternal uncle was also killed in the Iran–Iraq war.”
According to the source, “from the beginning of his arrest, Ali took sole responsibility for the charges raised, to prevent the arrest of his friends and those around him.” The lawyer the family appointed was not allowed to join the case, and “he did not accept a court-appointed lawyer and defended himself in person during the proceedings.” His court session was held online, and according to the source, “the defence submissions presented by him and his family have not been examined.” The sentence issued against him is the sentence of a court under these conditions, not proof of guilt.
Eighteen other names
For the rest of those killed in Lordegan, our sources have recorded no description of life. We do not know who the nine people were who gave their lives on 17 Dey 1404, and what lives the three people had who were killed before all the others on 11 Dey. Details are available for only 2 people.
Sources and the incompleteness of the list
