This page keeps the memory of 31 people whose names are linked with Minab, in the province of Hormozgan. All of them were executed. The first date on this page is 4 Bahman 1393 and the last 21 Mehr 1404. The list for Minab is the list of this city's prison; and, as you will read below, a list of fathers with many children.
Years and days
The year 1395, with 8 names, is the year with the most names on this page, and on one day of it, 6 Mehr 1395, 7 people were executed together. The other years have fewer names: one name in each of the years 1396 and 1403; 2 names in 1393 and 1402; 3 names in 1394, 1397 and 1404; and 4 names in 1398 and 1401. The day 4 Bahman 1393, with which the list begins, has two names, and the days 17 Mordad 1397, 23 Tir 1398 and 2 Khordad 1401 have three executions each.
The ages range from 23 to 61 years, and the median is 35 years. The sources have written of 2 people that they were women. No one was under 18 at the time of death, but one of those executed, as you will read, had been arrested at the age of seventeen.
Amirali Shadabi
Amirali Shadabi, 23 years old, had studied up to the seventh grade and was unmarried. The source writes: “Mr Shadabi was 17 years old at that time.” About the incident that led to his execution he had said: “That man was very tall and I was underneath him. He beat me a lot and I stabbed him with a knife to defend myself.” Those who knew him have said: “He was a brave and intelligent boy,” and “because he was young and also an extraordinarily good boy, everyone in prison loved him.” On 23 Tir 1398 he was hanged in Minab Prison together with 2 others. The charge attributed to him is what the court stated; his own account of self-defence is recorded alongside it.
Fathers
About most of those executed in Minab of whom the sources have written anything, what appears is the number of children. Isa Omarzehi, 56 years old, who was self-employed, according to the source “was married and had 12 children.” At dawn on 26 Mordad 1394 he “was hanged together with 3 others in the grounds of Minab Central Prison,” and his body was buried in the village of Chah Salar in Khash county.
Ebrahim Reisi, 45 years old, the last name on this page, was executed on 21 Mehr 1404; “married and with seven children.” Amir Ghanbari, 26 years old, and Isa Narouei, 35 years old, were both executed on 6 Mordad 1404, and of both it is written: “married and with two children.” Allahnour Salarzehi, 34 years old, “married and with two young children,” was executed on 16 Shahrivar 1401, and Lal Mohammad Shirzaei Barahouei, “with two young children,” on 13 Ordibehesht 1402. Nabibakhsh Mollazehi, 61 years old, the oldest person on this page, was hanged on 9 Mordad 1403.
What we do not know
For most of these 31 people, including the seven people who were executed on 6 Mehr 1395 and the two women on this list, our sources have nothing but a name and a date.
Sources and the incompleteness of the list
These 31 names are not all of those who were executed in Minab. The real number is higher, and many executions were never reported with a name; Minab appears in our list only with names that have a source. The largest share is held by the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center with 23 cases, followed by Haalvsh with 8 cases, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 6 cases and the Iran Human Rights Society with 5 cases. Some entries rest on only one report. If you knew one of these 31 people, we ask you to send us your memory or correction.
