Some lives

Hadi Hassani, 19 years old, was a kolbar and, according to the source, since losing his father a few years earlier “had taken on the care of the family's four other children.” He was killed on 24 Azar 1398. Mohammad Rashidzadeh, 28 years old, a kolbar, had married a year earlier and had just become a father; he lost his life on 6 Dey 1398. Zanyar Irannejad, 23 years old, whom the source calls “a young kolbar” and the father of a newborn, was killed on 23 Tir 1405.

Milad Tabad, 28 years old, a kolbar, according to the source was wounded in the head by shots from border guards and remained for months in intensive care. His family, who could not afford the cost of treatment, took him home and nursed him themselves, until he died nearly a year later.

Gahram Gomshadzehi, 45 years old, a fuel carrier and father of seven children, was from the Gosht area of Saravan. According to the source, on the evening of a Thursday on a side road from Esfandak towards Saravan he stepped on a mine that the IRGC had laid; locals found his body two days later. He lost his life on 21 Khordad 1405. Ali Barahouei Zirkari, 33 years old, a fuel carrier, father of three daughters and with a physical disability, was killed on 14 Mehr 1405 in Bandar Abbas; the source writes: “His body burned in the fire.”

About this list

The list of kolbars and fuel carriers who were killed is not complete. The real number of kolbars and fuel carriers killed is higher; many of these deaths may never have been reported with a name, and we record only a name that has a source. The largest share comes from the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 235 cases; followed by the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (English-language) with 66 and Haalvsh with 18 cases. Every kolbar and fuel carrier on this page has at least one source, but some only one. For 61 people a description of their life is available. If you knew one of these porters, share your memory or correction with us.
