Sentenced to death, fate unknown

This page keeps the names of 248 prisoners about whom news of a death sentence or a risk of execution was once published, and from whom no further news has reached us since then. The latest report we have about each of these people is from before Dey 1402; the oldest dates back to 18 Farvardin 1394 and the most recent to 24 Azar 1402. Their fate today is unknown. Perhaps some have been executed without the news getting out, perhaps the sentence of some has been overturned or commuted, perhaps someone has been released. We do not know, and precisely for this reason we keep this page separate.

This list is not complete

The real number of prisoners who received a death sentence and whose fate is unclear is much higher than 248; the names of many were never published. We list only a name for which we have a source. The largest share of this page comes from the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 143 cases; followed by the Iran Human Rights Society with 94, Haalvsh with 68, HRANA with 52 and the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (English-language) with 36 cases. Every name has at least one source, and some of these condemned prisoners are named in only one report. For 32 people, details of their life have been recorded. If you know where one of these 248 people is today, whether their sentence has been carried out, overturned, or whether they have been released, share this news with us so that their fate no longer remains unknown.
