Days
The executions of this month were concentrated on a few days. On 5 Azar 1403, 11 people were executed; the day with the most names on this page. The day 25 Azar 1403 has ten names, 8 Azar 1403 nine names, 28 Azar 1403 seven names and 22 Azar 1403 six names. That is, in the last week of the month, from 22 to 28 Azar, more than twenty people gave their lives.
The executions are recorded in many cities: Yazd with 6 names, Zahedan with 5, Karaj with 4, Ilam with 3, and Hamadan, Khorramabad, Saveh, Tehran, Miandoab and Mahabad with 2 names each. The ages range from 20 to 47 years, and the median is 36 years. The sources have written of 27 of these 110 people that they were women; nearly one in every four. No one under 18 is recorded in this month.
25 and 26 Azar
On 25 Azar 1403, among those who were executed, several names appear side by side. In Yazd, Reza Kharkouhi, 43 years old, Mohammadali Kharkouhi, 36 years old, and Nematollah Toutazehi, 33 years old, were hanged together. On the same day, Mohammad Vazir Roudini, 45 years old, in Zahedan, and Elyas Tardast, 22 years old, and Alireza Gallehbachcheh, 37 years old, were also executed. The next day, 26 Azar 1403, Abdolbaset Toutazehi, 38 years old, Abdolnaser Toutazehi, 38 years old, and Yaghoub Barahouei Moghaddam, whom the source places in Zahedan, were hanged.
The sources have written of all these men that they were married and had children, but they have not written the same number of children; one report speaks of two children, one of three or four and another of eight children. We do not hide these differences: what is clear is that in two days, many homes were left without a father. The family names Toutazehi and Kharkouhi are repeated several times on these two days; our sources have not made clear the family relationship between them.
Others
Khodanour Gorgij, 31 years old, whom the sources call married and with children, was executed on 11 Azar 1403. Omid Hassanzehi, 40 years old, was executed on 19 Azar 1403 in Zahedan. Kouros Narouei, 47 years old, “married and with three children,” is recorded in our list as at risk of execution. Whatever charge appears in the cases of those executed in Azar 1403 is what the authorities have said, and this page does not regard it as proof of guilt.
Sources and incompleteness
110 names are not all of those who were executed or killed in Azar 1403; the real number is higher, and many executions were reported without names. The list for this month contains only names that have a source behind them. The sources of this page are the Iran Human Rights Society with 145 cases, Haalvsh with 38, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 17, HRANA with 5 and the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (English-language) with 2 cases. We have details for only 18 people, and even for these 18 people, most of what we know is only their family situation and the number of children; nothing about their work, their dreams and their last days has appeared in the sources.
