Shahrivar 1404

This page keeps the memory of 165 people who gave their lives in Shahrivar 1404 or whose fate was decided in this month; from 2 Shahrivar 1404 to 31 Shahrivar 1404. 154 of them were executed in this month. 2 people were killed by government forces outside the protests and one person lost their life in custody. 4 people were sentenced to death and 4 others are at risk of execution.

Four days with fourteen names

In Shahrivar 1404, four days have 14 names each: 16 Shahrivar, 23 Shahrivar, 25 Shahrivar and 26 Shahrivar 1404. The day 9 Shahrivar 1404 also has 12 names. That is, on just five days of this month, sixty-eight people were executed; and on two consecutive days, 25 and 26 Shahrivar, twenty-eight people.

The executions are recorded in many cities: Tabriz with 11 names, Karaj with 10, Isfahan and Shiraz with 9 each, Rasht, Zahedan and Kermanshah with 6 each, Hamadan with 5, and Birjand, Semnan, Aligudarz and Sanandaj with 4 names each. The ages range from 10 to 54 years, and the median is 38 years. One person under 18 is recorded, and the sources have written of 10 people that they were women.

Hadigheh Abadi and Younes Mazarshams

On 20 Shahrivar 1404, a wife and husband from Afghanistan were executed together in Choobindar Central Prison in Qazvin. Hadigheh Abadi and Younes Mazarshams, both 46 years old, were caretakers in Taleghan near Karaj. The source writes about Hadigheh: “She was married and had three young children,” and adds: “The three children of Hadigheh Abadi and her husband were returned to Afghanistan by the Iranian authorities a few months after their arrest.” Three children who first lost their father and mother and then the land in which they lived. The charge attributed to this wife and husband is the court's account, not proof of guilt.

Fathers

On 25 Shahrivar 1404, two men were executed in Birjand who each had six children: Abdolsamad Salarzehi, 42 years old, and Abdolmajid Barahouei, 41 years old. On the same day, Parviz Yousefzehi, 27 years old, unmarried, was executed in Gonabad. On 23 Shahrivar, Reza Sarani, 51 years old, in Kashmar, “father of two children,” and Amer Paraki Balouchzehi, 28 years old, in Zahedan, who “had one daughter,” were hanged. On 16 Shahrivar, Mohammad Mirbalouchzehi, 46 years old, “father of four children,” and Mohammadgol Mizbalouchzehi, 45 years old, married and with children, were executed.

Babak Shahbazi, 44 years old, “father of two children,” was executed on 26 Shahrivar in Karaj. Abdolaziz Ghaljaei, 35 years old, “with four children,” was hanged on 30 Shahrivar in Zahedan, and Mohammadali Lashari, 38 years old, “married and with three children,” on 5 Shahrivar in Isfahan. If we put just these few sentences side by side, more than thirty children lost a father or mother in one month.

Sources and incompleteness

These 165 names are not all of those who were executed or killed in Shahrivar 1404; the real number is higher, and we record only names that have a source. The sources of this page are the Iran Human Rights Society with 152 cases, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 20, Haalvsh with 11, HRANA with 9, the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center with 2 and the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (English-language) with one case. For 13 people we have details of life, and those details too are mostly only the number of children; about the work, dreams and last days of these people, our sources have said almost nothing. If you knew one of those executed in Shahrivar 1404, send us your memory or correction.
