This page keeps the memory of the Javid-Nam (“everlasting names”), those who lost their lives, from the province of Qom. This list contains 102 names, from 10 Tir 1388 to 9 Shahrivar 1405, and all of them go back to the city of Qom. In this province execution is the predominant fate: 92 of these 102 people were executed. 7 people were killed in protests, 2 people lost their lives in detention and 1 person is at risk of the execution of a death sentence.
Years, days and ages
The earliest day in this list is 10 Tir 1388. The days 14 Mordad 1399, 18 Tir 1401, 31 Tir 1401, 4 Khordad 1404 and 26 Bahman 1404, each with 3 names, are the heaviest days of this province. The year 1404 with 57 names, more than half of this entire page, is the heaviest year; it is followed by 1401 with 14 names and 1399 with 7 names. The median age is 30 years; the youngest was 17 years old and the oldest 56. 1 person was under 18 years of age, and there are 14 women in this list.
28 Esfand 1404
On 28 Esfand 1404, three young men were executed in Qom: Saleh Mohammadi, Saeed Davoudi and Mehdi Ghasemi. According to the sources, all three had been arrested during the Dey protests and faced charges of “killing two police officers” and “operational action” for Israel and America. Saleh Mohammadi was a 19-year-old wrestler who had won a bronze medal wearing the singlet of the national freestyle wrestling team. According to the source, he “denied the murder charge and said the confessions were obtained under pressure.” Saeed Davoudi was 21 years old; the source says “he was to turn 22 on 1 Farvardin 1405.” Mehdi Ghasemi, according to the source, “appears to be a young man of about 20.” These three names appear here with the charges announced by the authorities; recording a charge does not mean accepting it.
Some other lives
Saeed Shokri, 26 years old, an estate agent and single, according to the source “had no criminal record.” He had said in court: “But I did not know that this was a crime. I have no record.” Saeed was executed at 6 in the morning on 25 Bahman 1395 together with 6 others in Langroud Prison in Qom; only one day before, he had seen his family for the last time. The source says that his lawyer had been told mockingly to attend his client's memorial service the next day.
Hossein Rabiei in Qom, in front of his workplace, always placed a cooler of ice water labelled “Khodanour” in memory of Khodanour Lajei. He was killed in Dey 1404 and was buried on 12 Dey in the Behesht-e Masoumeh cemetery. A provincial official said that he was killed as a result of carrying a hand grenade himself; we record this official account alongside what other sources have said. Mojtaba Ayami, 47 years old, father of one child, was executed on 30 Azar 1402 in Qom. About most of the 92 people executed in this province, nothing apart from name, age and date of execution appears in our sources, and that is why every memory of them is valuable.
About this list
The list of the Javid-Nam in Qom province is not complete. The real number of those executed and killed from Qom is higher, and we record only a name that has a source. The largest share comes from the Iran Human Rights Society with 49 cases; followed by HRANA with 34, the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center with 26, and iranintl.com and Iran International with 10 cases each. Every Qom name on this page has at least one source, but some only one. For 8 people a description of their life is available. If you knew one of these 102 victims from Qom, share your memory or correction with us.
