This page holds the names of 38 people of Bushehr. The list begins on 2 Khordad 1396 and reaches 6 Esfand 1404. Of these 38 people, 18 were executed, 19 were killed in protests and one person was killed by government forces. But most of these names, 33 names, belong to the year 1404 alone; and most of them to a few days in the month of Dey of that year and to one street: Ashouri Street in Bushehr.
Dey 1404 and Ashouri Street
On 18 Dey 1404, 7 people of Bushehr were killed, and on 19 Dey 1404, 2 more. The other years of this list have few names: 2 names in 1396 and one name in each of the years 1398, 1400 and 1401. The ages range from 15 to 45 years, and the median is 27 years. 5 of these 38 people were under 18; five children and adolescents in a list this short. The sources have written of 2 people that they were women.
Arvin Salemirad was 16 years old. The source has only one sentence about him, and it is enough: “Arvin was a footballer and had many dreams.” He was wounded by a direct shot in Ashouri Street on 18 Dey 1404. According to the source, his body was handed over to the family “with many pledges,” and he was buried “in the presence of a small number of acquaintances in the ‘Tangak’ cemetery of Bushehr.” Nima Jowzaei is also recorded in our list as 16 years old, although one of the reports gives a different age for him. The source says: “He was an athlete and fit.” And: “They shot Nima from behind.” His body was buried in the Shekari cemetery of Bushehr.
Behrouz Mansouri and Mansoureh Heydari
Behrouz Mansouri, 42 years old, a teacher at a technical and vocational school, and his wife Mansoureh Heydari, 36 years old, head nurse and manager of the crisis department of Salman Farsi Hospital, were both killed on 18 Dey 1404. The source writes: “This couple had two children aged 9 and 11.” First Behrouz was shot, and Mansoureh, “when she returned to the spot to help her husband, also lost her life from the shooting of the armed forces.” According to the sources, “Behrouz lost his life from a bullet to the forehead and Mansoureh from a bullet to the heart.” Their bodies “were handed over after four days, together with a warning to the family to keep silent at the ceremony.”
Zohreh Fazeli, Saeed Sanjideh and Esmail Khorousha
Zohreh Fazeli, 38 years old, “held a doctorate in strategic management” and “had suffered from MS for a long time.” The source writes: “On 19 Dey Zohreh took part in the protests in Bushehr together with her sister and on crutches.” Zohreh's family, who waited four days for her body, have said of those days: “They shot her in the leg and the heart; we waited 4 days for her body.”
Saeed Sanjideh, 35 years old, was “newly married and the owner of a supermarket in Bushehr,” and originally from Khormuj. His body was found two days later in the hospital and, according to the source, was handed over to the family in exchange for a payment of “300 million tomans.” Esmail Khorousha, 38 years old, was from Borazjan and had come to Bushehr for work; “he was the father of a three-year-old child.”
Ali Kazemi
Among those executed in Bushehr, the name of Ali Kazemi stands apart. The source writes that he “was a 15-year-old adolescent when he was arrested and a 22-year-old young man when he was executed.” On 9 Bahman 1396 his family had been told that the execution of the sentence had been halted, but at noon the next day, 10 Bahman 1396, he was hanged in Bushehr Central Prison; and according to the source, he “was still alive one hour after the execution.”
Sources and incompleteness
This list is not complete; the real number of those from Bushehr who lost their lives is higher, and not all names have been published. We add only a name that has a source. The sources of this page are HRANA with 14 and 13 cases, Iran International with 13, the Iran Human Rights Society and iranhrs.org with 11 each, IranWire with 6, iranintl.com with 5, and the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center and Persian Wikipedia with 4 cases each, and 3 names also appear in the list of the Office of the Presidency dated 12 Bahman 1404. Some entries have only one source. If you knew one of these 38 people, send us your memory or correction.
