This page keeps the memory of 27 people whose names are linked with Chabahar, in the province of Sistan and Baluchestan. 23 of them were executed, 2 were killed in protests and 2 lost their lives at the hands of government forces outside the protests. The first date on this page is 16 Bahman 1392 and the last 6 Esfand 1404.
Years and days
The list for Chabahar begins with a heavy day: on 16 Bahman 1392, 3 people were executed together. The year 1393, with 7 names, is the year with the most names on this page in the nineties (Iranian calendar); on 13 Mordad 1393 three people and on 5 Khordad 1393 two people were executed, and on 25 Bahman 1393 one more. The year 1396 has three names, two of which go back to 28 Bahman 1396. After that, one name appears in 1395, 2 names in 1401 and one name in 1403, and finally the year 1404 with 10 names, the year with the most names on this page.
The ages fall within a narrow range: from 30 to 45 years, with a median of 36 years. All those whose age we know were middle-aged men. On this page neither anyone under 18 is recorded nor a woman whose being a woman a source has stated explicitly.
Saeed Balouchi
Saeed Balouchi, 45 years old, the oldest person on this page, “lived with his poor family in the deprived village of Kaldar, where people live in huts.” The source writes that he was self-employed and “bought the necessities of the village people in the city and delivered them to them.” He “had three sons and one daughter” and “was a religious person.”
According to the source, he “had been tortured in solitary cells during 5 days of detention.” On the day before the execution his family saw him for the last time, and he “had insisted on his innocence and said that everything was a lie and fabricated.” He was executed on 16 Esfand 1393 in Nikshahr Prison. To hand over his body, the forensic medicine office demanded “fifty thousand tomans (known as rope money).” The charge attributed to him is the court's account; his own account was innocence.
Saeed Jadgal and Ayoub Rasaneh
Saeed Jadgal, 30 years old, “married and with two children,” was executed on 31 Farvardin 1403. The source has said nothing about him except these few words; two children who lost their father in the spring of that year.
Ayoub Rasaneh, 36 years old, son of Kingi, was from the village of Firouzabad in the Rask area, and the source introduces him as Baluch. According to Haalvsh, on the evening of Friday, 19 Dey, a group of Baluch citizens, joining the nationwide protests, blocked the road from Rask to Chabahar. During this gathering, according to the source, Basij forces fired at the protesters and Ayoub was killed.
What we do not know
For most of those executed in Chabahar, our sources have recorded nothing but a name and a date. We do not know who the ten people from this city who gave their lives in the year 1404 were and whom they left behind. Details of life are available for only 3 people.
Sources and the incompleteness of the list
These 27 names are not all of those from Chabahar who lost their lives. The real number is higher, and many executions in this region remained without names; Chabahar appears in our list only with names that have a source. The sources of this page are the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center with 15 cases, HRANA with 9, the Iran Human Rights Society with 6, Haalvsh with 2, and Persian Wikipedia, Iran International and Haalvsh with one case each. If you knew Saeed Balouchi in the village of Kaldar, or are from the family of one of the 27 people on this page, we ask you to send us your memory or correction.
