What the list for Sari shows
The year 1404, with 42 names, is more than half of this page, and the day 18 Dey 1404, with 9 killed, its bitterest day. In the same year the executions also continued: the days 25 Shahrivar 1404, 6 Dey 1404 and 21 Bahman 1404 have two names each. The year 1401, with 9 names, is the second year of this page, and the day 30 Shahrivar 1401 also has two names. The year 1405 has 7 names so far. The remaining names are scattered: 3 names in 1393, 2 names in 1397, 2 names in 1403, and one name in each of the years 1389, 1394, 1398, 1399 and 1402.
The ages range from 10 to 57 years, and the median is 35 years. 4 of these 73 people were under 18, and the sources have written of one person that she was a woman.
Mohammadjavad Zahedi Saravi
Mohammadjavad Zahedi Saravi, 20 years old, had obtained a diploma in architectural drafting and wanted to go to university, but an accident one year before his death kept him from this path. “Mr Zahedi was a member of a family of five and had 2 sisters.” On 30 Shahrivar 1401, “only three weeks after his twentieth birthday party,” an agent of the special unit shot him from behind with pellets in Enghelab Street, opposite the Bargh intersection. At 21:45 he reached Imam Khomeini Hospital and fifteen minutes later he lost his life. His mother has said: “Until today I didn't know what politics was. Until they brought my son's body. I took a sheet of paper in my hand and went to seek justice, and they kept passing me from this room to that room, and in the end, nothing.”
Dey 1404 in Sari
Mohammad Ebrahimi, 42 years old, was “an athlete and the owner of a café in Sari” and had a 15-year-old daughter. “His café was the hangout of the neighbourhood's young people.” The source writes that on that day, before joining the gathering, he closed the café and told his friends this might be their last souvenir photo. After his death, “despite the security atmosphere, young people laid flowers in front of his café.” Mohammad Mirzaei Noushabadi, 37 years old, unmarried and a construction worker, was killed on the same day, 18 Dey 1404, by a military bullet to the abdomen and was buried in the village of Zeyd-e Olya.
Executions and death in custody
Ashraf Faraji, 57 years old, “mother of four children,” who according to the source “suffered from nervous and psychological problems and was under a doctor's care,” was executed on 8 Mehr 1405; the last name on this page, and the only woman whom the sources mention on this list. Erfan Afzali, 42 years old, father of two children, was executed on 13 Mehr 1404. The charge attributed to these two is the authorities' account, not a verdict of guilt.
In the year 1397 two kolbars (border porters) are also linked with Sari in this list: Soleyman Badoushiveh, who on 11 Mordad 1397, and Faramarz Jalibaghou, 26 years old, who on 1 Aban 1397, were killed by government forces outside the protests. The sources have written nothing about these two men except this one word, “kolbar.”
Amirhossein Kouhzadi, a conscript soldier and unmarried, was killed on 5 Khordad 1389, the day after his arrest, in the detention centre of the police in Sari; the first name on this page. His relatives were told that nothing had been recorded by the cameras on that day.
