Days of execution
In Ordibehesht 1402, almost every few days several people were executed together. The day 16 Ordibehesht 1402 with 11 names and the day 14 Ordibehesht 1402 with 10 names are the days with the most names this month; after them come 9 Ordibehesht 1402 with 9 names, 29 Ordibehesht 1402 with 8 names and 10 Ordibehesht 1402 with 6 names. That is, on just three days, 9, 14 and 16 Ordibehesht, thirty people lost their lives.
The executions were carried out in many cities: Karaj with 12 names, Ahvaz with 7, Isfahan with 6, Urmia with 5, Bandar Abbas and Sanandaj with 4 each, Khorramabad and Kermanshah with 3 each, and Birjand, Minab, Qazvin and Yazd with 2 names each. The ages range from 22 to 55 years, and the median is 37 years. The sources have written of 28 people that they were women; more than one in every five people. No one under 18 is recorded in this month.
Sadrollah Fazeli Zare and Yousef Khoub Imcheh
On 18 Ordibehesht 1402 two men were executed in Arak Prison. Sadrollah Fazeli Zare, 37 years old, was a cabinet maker and took care of his elderly mother; he had grown up in a large family with 10 brothers and sisters. The source writes that on the eighth of Azar 1395 he created a Telegram channel named “Scandal of the Islamists,” and remembers him like this: “Sadrollah was against superstition,” and “he was a questioner.” One of those who have remembered him has written: “Nowhere in the world is the punishment for questioning and fighting superstition death.” His body was buried the day after the execution in the Sharafabad cemetery of Yasuj.
Yousef Khoub Imcheh, “married and father of two sons and a young daughter,” was executed on the same day in the same prison. According to the source, he too wrote in channels with names such as “Scandal of the Islamists.” The source says that both were subjected to psychological and physical torture to extract confessions and that neither had a last visit; “his family and even his court-appointed lawyer had not been informed before the execution that the sentence would be carried out.” The charge attributed to these two men is the court's account, not a verdict of guilt.
Fathers and brothers
Abdolhalim Charizehi, about 29 years old, and his brother Abdolsalam Charizehi, 31 years old, whom the source introduces as Baluch, married and with children, were killed by government forces outside the protests in this same month; two brothers in one month.
About many of those executed, the sources have spoken only of their children. Allah Rigi Ladiz, 48 years old, and Mahmoud Rahmani from Iranshahr were both executed on 9 Ordibehesht 1402, and of both it is written: “married, with six children.” Doustmohammad Gharghari, “married, with three young children,” was hanged on 12 Ordibehesht, and Habibollah Faghirdadzehi, 43 years old, “married, with four children,” on 14 Ordibehesht. Hossein Pourshaykh and Nabiollah Zaboli were both executed on 28 Ordibehesht 1402; the sources call both of them married and with children.
Sources and incompleteness
These 125 names are not all of those who were executed or killed in Ordibehesht 1402; the real number is higher, and from many executions no name has been published. We record only names that have a source. The sources of this page are the Iran Human Rights Society with 93 cases, Haalvsh with 63, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network with 45, the Kurdistan Human Rights Network (English-language) with 8, HRANA with 7 and the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center with 4 cases. For 50 people we have details of life, and some entries have only one source. If you knew one of the Javid-Nam (“everlasting names”), those who lost their lives, in Ordibehesht 1402, send us your memory or correction.
