This page keeps the memory of the Javid-Nam (“everlasting names”), those who lost their lives, from the province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad. This list contains 87 names, from 3 Bahman 1389 to 11 Mordad 1405. Yasuj with 64 names and Gachsaran with 15 names are the cities in this list; for a number of names no city has been recorded.
Fates
In this province execution covers almost all the names: 79 of the 87 people were executed. 5 people were killed in protests, 2 people lost their lives in detention and 1 person is at risk of the execution of a death sentence. The median age is 30 years; the youngest was 13 years old and the oldest 61. 1 person was under 18 years of age, and there are 9 women in this list whose source stated that they were women.
Years and days
The year 1404 with 39 names, nearly half of this entire page, is the heaviest year. Before that come the year 1391 with 10 names, and the years 1397, 1400 and 1402 with 4 names each; the year 1401 also has 6 names, and from 1405 so far 5 names have been recorded. The most frequent days of this province are these: 7 Dey 1391 with 5 names, 10 Esfand 1391 with 4 names, and 16 Mehr 1390, 21 Shahrivar 1392 and 23 Dey 1397 with 3 names each. On each of these days several families in Yasuj or Gachsaran lost a loved one. Two of these five days are in the year 1391; a year in which 10 names from this province are recorded.
Three names
For only 4 of these 87 people does something about their life appear in our sources. Reza Hosseinzadeh, 20 years old, a young Lur who lived in Yasuj, was wounded on 19 Dey 1404 by bullets to his legs. The source writes: “He lost so much blood that his young life could not withstand it.” His body was buried in the Sepidar cemetery in Yasuj, and videos of him and of his burial have been published. He is one of the 5 people in this province who were killed in protests.
Heydar Hassani Maram, whom the source describes as married and the father of a young child, was executed on 13 Azar 1401 in Yasuj. Fereydoun Lotfi, 51 years old, father of four children, was executed on 5 Aban 1404 in Yasuj. These two sentences are almost all that we know about them: their names, their city, the day of their execution, and that they left children behind.
Names without a story
For most of the 79 people executed in this province we have nothing apart from name, age, city and date of execution; we know neither their occupation, nor the names of those who survived them, nor what those close to them have said about them. Short execution reports usually say only who was hanged, where and on what day. Every memory added to this page brings one of these names closer to the life that was behind it.
About this list
The list of the Javid-Nam in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad is not complete. The real number of those executed and killed from Yasuj and Gachsaran is higher, and we record only a name that has a source. The largest share comes from the Iran Human Rights Society with 40 cases; followed by the Abdorrahman Boroumand Center with 32 and HRANA with 21 cases; Iran Human Rights has also reported 5 names. Every name from this province has at least one source, and some of them have only one source. If you knew one of the victims from Yasuj and Gachsaran, share your memory or correction with us.
