On 18 Dey 1404 he joined the protests in Mashhad together with his friends and, during clashes between the protesting people and the repressive forces, went missing in the "7 Tir" area of Mashhad.

  خانواده مهدیان بعد از ۵ روز مفقودی، پیکر او را در «بهشت رضا» مشهد پیدا کردند، با آثار ضرب و شتم روی بدن و گلوله در پهلوی او. روح‌الله مهدیان، معترض ۴۵ ساله، متأهل و پدر دو فرزند بود. او روز ۱۸دی۱۴۰۴ به همراه دوستانش به اعتراضات در مشهد پیوست و در حین درگیری مردم معترض با نیروهای سرکوب، در منطقه «۷ تیر» مشهد مفقود شد.
