Some lives

Aida Aghili, 34 years old, embraced her mother before going to the demonstration and made her will. This sentence of hers remains: “I am a child of this soil.” She had said in her writings: “that I still believe freedom will come,”. She was killed by two bullets to the head; security bodies wanted to bury her in the section for the executed, but through her family's resistance she was buried, according to her own will, next to her grandmother. Sina Ashkbousi, 17 years old, an only child who wanted to go to Canada to study, was chanting slogans on 18 Dey with a group of his friends in Tehranpars Park when shots were fired at them. His body was buried on 22 Dey, with a pledge that had been taken from the family that the ceremony would be held in silence.

Masoud Zatparvar, 39 years old, a former world champion in classic physique, was killed on 18 Dey in Rasht by a military round; he has been quoted as saying: “A voice that has been stifled for 40 years must be shouted out.” Sam Afshari, 17 years old, a provincial swimming champion and his father's only child, was shot from behind near Mehran Square in Karaj; his mother, during the identification, did not at first recognise him because of the severity of the wounds. Arshia Barari, 25 years old, a Kyokushin champion in Zanjan, remained half-alive on the ground for an hour. Mojtaba Vosough, 36 years old, was killed in Isfahan while helping a woman, and Mojtaba Torshiz Hajikolaei, a former football player, according to the source “gave his life so that his wife would stay alive.”
