He had created a Telegram channel named “The Scandal of the Islamists.” The source writes about him: “Nowhere in the world is the punishment for asking questions and fighting superstition death.” Yousef, whom the source describes as “married and the father of two sons and a little daughter,” criticised religious superstition in harsh language in these same channels. According to the source, his family and even his court-appointed lawyer did not know about the execution of the sentence. Both, according to the sources, had been subjected to psychological and physical torture to extract confessions.

Others

Vahid Heydari, 23 years old, was a street vendor who set up his stall at the Arak bazaar; the source considers him a young man who “toiled in cold and heat to earn a morsel of bread.” He died a few days after his arrest, on 15 Dey 1396, in the detention centre of Police Station 12 in Arak. The authorities announced the cause as “suicide,” but according to the source a fracture and a deep depression could be seen on his head. His uncle said that what the authorities say is not true.

Abolfazl Eskandari, 19 years old, originally from Khalkhal, had begun his military service in Shazand three months earlier and also worked at a mechanic's shop to help his family. He was killed on 18 Dey 1404 in Arak by a military round to the lung and the back of the neck, and his body reached the family four days later, with a pledge to bury him in silence. Mohammadreza Najafi, 27 years old, the only son of a war-disabled man and a heavy-vehicle driver who loved motorcycling, was killed on 19 Dey 1404 in Shazand.
