Years and days

The year 1404, with 129 names, is the heaviest year of this page. After it come 1398 with 72 names, 1401 with 61 names, and 1400 and 1405 with 28 names each. The ages range from 10 to 66 years, and the median is 32 years. 11 people were under 18, and the sources have written of 53 people that they were women.

The women of Adelabad

Safieh Ghafouri, 28 years old, was a housewife. The source writes that she “wrote very well, was a reader and read books,” and “for example she read The Little Prince and knew the poems of Ahmad Shamlou by heart.” She was executed on 22 Tir 1391 in Adelabad Prison. A few hours before that, her friends called her lawyer and said: “Do whatever you can for her.”

Seyedeh Fatemeh Salbehi was forced into marriage at the age of 15, and the source writes that she “was only 17 years old at the time of the killing.” She had said: “During the reconstruction of the crime scene, the criminal investigation officer tricked me and said, take the blame for the killing, nothing will happen.” She was executed on 21 Mehr 1394, at the age of 23.

Adolescents who were executed

Alireza Tajiki, 21 years old, who as an adolescent had been a provincial medal-winning cyclist, had said: “I am innocent and I did not do this. Why are they pinning this killing on me?” He was executed on 19 Mordad 1396, and his family said: “We have been dead for 6 years; only the earth is not yet over us!” Mehdi Sohrabifar, 17 years old, “had a mental disability and could not read or write.” According to the source, showing his fingers, he had asked the judge to give him only 5 years in prison. He was executed on 5 Ordibehesht 1398. The charges in these cases are what the authorities stated, not a verdict of guilt.

Those killed in the street

Arman Estakhrian, 17 years old, “very shy and polite,” went into a coma from a baton blow in Tir 1388 and lost his life. Mohammad Dastankhah, 15 years old, a third-year middle school student who “was very interested in robotics” and built boats and helicopters with batteries, was killed in front of the Basij base in Sadra. His family said: “It was not an unknown person who killed my son; you yourselves killed him.” Abdollah Ghavimi, 46 years old, father of two children aged 16 and 4, had gone to Sadra on 25 Aban 1398 to bring the children home from school.

Sara Boroumand, 23 years old, the mother of a young son, was two semesters away from finishing her law degree. “She sewed cushion covers and did hair braiding.” On 19 Dey 1404, while returning from the clinic with her mother, she was killed by pellets in front of the Kolbeh bus stop. Sam Rezaei, 21 years old, who worked in the family jewellery shop and wanted to study medicine, was hit by a bullet near the Saadi cinema.

Sources and incompleteness

466 names are not all of those from Shiraz who lost their lives; the real number is higher, and we include only names that have a source.
